little lessons I’ve learned as a young woman…

- It’s always worth taking the scenic route.

- Days are generally better when I make my bed right after I wake up. I’m also a happier and more productive person when I wake up before 8am.

- Realize that you really don’t know much about most things. You can have your beliefs or theories but really you hardly have anything figured out. You’re journeying just like everybody else.

- The necessity of being appreciative and of thank you cards.

- Recognize love, even in the simplest of gestures such as knowing just how someone likes their coffee or tea.

- Sometimes loving someone means calling them out on their crap and risking them not liking you all that much afterwards. “Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person’s ultimate good as far as it can be obtained.” — C.S. Lewis

- Don’t ever throw away a finished journal.

- That it’s OK to wipe someone’s tears and nose with your sleeve. It tells them that you know they’re a mess and you love them anyway.

- Never ever sit inside on a sunny day.

- The importance of second chances. I always give them because I always need them as well.

- That if there cannot be another chance, then at least there can be forgiveness; forgive others, and don’t forget to forgive yourself.

- You should always say everything you need to say, even if that includes goodbye. Life is hard enough without having imaginary conversations about things you wish you’d said.

There are a few things I want to add to this list that I previously posted.

- Feelings, emotions, they are not irrelevant. But they also can not control you. God gave you smarts, use them, but don’t ignore your heart.

- It’s okay to ask for help from your parents if they are willing to help you, it’s irresponsible to just dismiss the problems you yourself can not fix but are too prideful to admit it.

- You don’t get to decide how talented you are but you can decided how hard you work. Nothing can keep you from being the best, there are no excuses, you just might have to work harder than everyone else.

- If you can’t fit more clothes in your closet or drawers then you have no right buying anything new until you’ve made a nice big trip to your local goodwill.
